Challenge

Video Rola is a music video TV network based in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Its challenge was to branch out and launch programming into US and Canadian markets. Officials were already speaking to cable-friendly satellite providers who could accomplish this distribution mission; however, Video Rola needed a solution for bringing more value to the business model, as well as for creating revenue that would help offset the cost of this expanded distribution.

Solution

Genesis Networks provided a solution that allowed Video Rola, not only to be part of a competitive MCPC, but to seamlessly cut out its existing Mexican commercial spots and overlay advertising content for the US marketplace. Rather than simply downlinking and distributing the satellite feed as it was – complete with Mexican commercial breaks – we put a system in line at our teleport that enabled the network to remotely swap-in US commercial content. Video Rola now sells ad space to US-based advertisers on its feed and is generating lucrative ad revenue.

Result

By introducing a new revenue model, and with no associated build-out costs, Video Rola has not only been able to cover the cost of expanded global distribution, but it is profiting from such distribution, every day, via new ad revenue channels. Doing very well these days, Video Rola has been online with Genesis Networks for more than four years, and the network continues to grow.
