The Power, Potential and Proprietary Performance of IRIS Customer Control Software

Web-Based Interface and Booking

You can book feeds and monitor the network from anywhere an Internet connection is available. You can check network availability and book occasional video transmission feeds or Portable Bandwidth Services at a moment’s notice through a series of user-friendly, interactive and customer-oriented Web-based provisioning screens.

Advanced Scheduling

You can book video feeds up to 5 years in advance. Network and equipment resources are reserved and guaranteed for the service as soon as the feed is booked. Alternatively, advance bookings can be canceled up to one minute prior to scheduled start time just by clicking a “cancel” button.

Service Definition and Order Templates

You can define your own Type of Service (TOS) to use at future times. TOS features include Delay Mode (normal, low, super-low), Audio Channels (4 channels, 2 channels, 256/128), Chroma Settings (4:2:2, 4:2:0), Signal Interface Format (NTSC, PAL, DVB-ASI) and Bit Rate (2-25, 45 Mbps). You can create an order within the Order Entry page from scratch, using a pre-defined TOS, or you can define a new one. You can create an Order Template that includes a pre-defined TOS, and even specifications including originating and destination locations.

True Service Turn-Up / No Minimum Advanced Booking Time

The software is a true customer-controlled platform and not simply “reservation software” offered by our competitors. The software turns up services via commands sent to equipment across our Global Network, thus truly putting you in control.  Control of network equipment by the software allows an order to be turned up immediately upon booking with no minimum time to book the order - a feature that cannot be offered by competitors using legacy systems.

Real-Time Control

You can change the status of an existing service; modify a service’s scheduled start time or scheduled end time; terminate or “goodnight” an active transmission in real-time, at the click of a button; and change a scheduled order to an active order, also at the click of a button.

Management and Troubleshooting

IRIS gives broadcast engineers full visibility into our service to monitor and manage critical content, whether they are in their own studio NOC or out in the field. With such visibility comes confidence and peace of mind. No more relying on second or third party eyes and ears to determine the health of the network, or to tweak quality of transmission, or to locate where on the network a potential fault lies. We give you the ability to see it yourself, right down to a last-mile router or encoder. By giving you full access to transmission metrics, IRIS puts signal monitoring and troubleshooting in your control, remotely and in real time.

Billing and Tracking

IRIS gives you a full online accounting of the services you have contracted for, and how you have used those services flexibly to your advantage. At any given moment, across any route, you can track usage, identify who booked the order and know what exactly you are being billed for. Since IRIS can provide this accurate utilization history to you in customized ways, and on demand, you no longer need to make on-the-fly decisions in the dark in terms of applicable costs.

Network Diagnostics

The software provides real-time access to system alerts and alarms, to identify potential fiber or hardware failures, particularly in the event of service failure or interruption. The software also provides detailed information regarding the exact nature and location of a specific failure.

At Genesis Networks, we continue to make incremental enhancements to our software. Planned developments and additions include Account Management (usage reports, usage estimates based on advanced bookings, the ability to view past and current invoices), User Right Management (customer-defined internal security access levels), Content Sharing (the ability to share content with other broadcasters), Pricing Requests, Recurring Feed Booking (the ability to book recurring feeds – hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, etc. – in  one entry) and Customization (the ability to customize the interface, especially the Network Transmission Status page, where different customers tend to have different monitoring needs).
