Genesis Networks Names Chris Stocking as U.K. President

NEW YORK — Sept. 4, 2007 — Genesis Networks, a provider of next-generation global video transmission services, today announced the appointment of Chris Stocking as the company’s new president for the U.K. In that role, he will be responsible for expanding Genesis Networks business opportunities throughout the U.K. and other areas of Europe.

Stocking brings a distinguished broadcasting career to Genesis Networks, having held numerous senior editorial and management posts in international news. He joins Genesis Networks from The Associated Press (AP), where he was head of AP Television’s broadcast services in London. There, he managed facilities serving more than 300 news networks at major news events ranging from G8 Summits to the death of Pope John Paul II. He was responsible for the rapid development of the news agency’s live shot positions, and for expanding the AP’s operations into Asia and Latin America.

During his tenure at AP, Stocking was at the helm of news operations for some of the most pivotal world events of the last two decades. He led AP’s dish operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, and Israel in the aftermath of 9/11 and the Iraq war. In addition, he was responsible for AP Television’s news operations during the Kosovo war, in which AP recorded the highest number of agency exclusives on the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) news exchanges.

Prior to moving to London, Stocking spent 12 years in the U.S. He led all AP Television news operations in North and South America including AP s video coverage of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, a story which at the time saw the highest number of AP crews in action in the U.S.

Prior to joining AP, Stocking served as the EBU’s U.S. bureau chief and pioneered the agency’s move into more commercial operations in the region. He also has worked as a producer, on-screen reporter, and news editor for a range of television and radio outlets.
